Planting Flowers

At our house, we had really let our flower bed go.  I mean, if you know Ronnie, you know it wasn't horrible, it just wasn't as pretty as it had been in the past.  We had talked about planting flowers for a while and finally we found some time to get it down.  Avery was none to eager to help!

Now then, let me say that Avery would wear a tutu skirt, sparkly shirt and tiara everywhere she went if I would let her. But for planting flowers we settled on a pink skirt and an old t-shirt, tucked in. I'm glad I have one child I can still pick out clothes for.

This is the before. Ugly right.

We bought a whole slew of flowers. With Avery's input of course.

And then we got to work!

There's always time for a picture break!

Of course, Ronnie had to step in and show us how it's done correctly!
Dig a hole.

Look cute and take a picture.

Make sure hole is big enough and flower will fit.

Squeeze container and release flower.

Gently break roots.



Cover remaining hole with dirt.

Yep, Ronnie is way better at planting flowers and way more precise than I am. 





But he has the bestest of helpers! Now here is where I would show you an after picture. But I don't have one. I assure you though the flower bed looks 95 times better, especially with the black mulch I picked out!

And where was Ellie during all this? Napping of course. She's got the right idea!

SnoCones!

Another way we like to beat the heat this awful beautiful summer is to go get snocones.

Sprinklers and Snocones. It's the theme of this Summer!

So off to the snocone stand we go.

No snocone visit is comeplete without princess shoes.

And of course you have to sport the sunglasses. Dad's make the best accessorie though.

If you are a 3 year old princess, the only snocone for you is pink. Flavor doesn't matter.

Most of us use straws.

Unless you're weird. Which, let's be honest, we all know R is pretty weird at times.

I could get snocones everyday. They are cheap, delicious and of course are the epitome of summer.

And this girl loves them as much as I do.

I could eat her up!

Go forth and eat snocones this summer! It's what all the cool kids are doing!

Sprinkler Summer Fun

With this crazy heat there are only a few ways we like to beat the heat. One of Avery's favorite ways is to play in the sprinkler. And that girl can play!

It doesn't matter what kind of sprinkler it is. We got this crazy sprinkler this summer.

It's wild and crazy. Just like the girl that plays in it.

But Avery is no sprinkler snob. She'll even play in R's rainbow sprinkler (there may be a more technical name for this but that's what I call it) when he waters the lawn.

I mean, really, is there anything much more fun than playing in the water?

I'm pretty sure this girl would tell you no.

Avery has such a good time it's hard to tell her no when she asks to play in the sprinkler. I love to hear her little squeals, screams and laughs. Even if it is past bedtime. I know these moments won't last forever.

What do i do while Avery is playing (besides taking pictures)? I rest of course (it was a windy day)!
