Snow Day

It snowed last night and Avery couldn't wait to go outside and play in the snow.  Luckily Avery got a snow suit for Christmas.

Tour de Avery

bike3

This past Labor Day weekend was one of the best weekends we've had in a while.  For starters, we had nothing planned.  Nothing.  Do you know how nice it was to not have anything planned?  I'll tell you.  It was heaven.  I'm not saying we didn't have stuff that we wanted to get done, but we really had no where to be.  It was lovely.

Ronnie did get to work on the New Kid's nursery.  I'll post more on that later.  Let me just tell you this, 5 days later, we still don't have paint on the walls.  Painting trim is a big ol' pain in the kiester I tell ya!

Anyway, while Ronnie was busy getting his paint on I decided to take Avery for a bike ride. My reasoning was multi-fold:
1. Avery LOVES riding her bike. She did seem to be under the impression she was going to her friends' Natalee and Lyla's house though.
2. I was trying to wear her out so she'd take a BIG nap.  Mommy may have needed a nap too.
3. The weather was too BEAUTIFUL to stay inside. I mean seriously.  Haven't you been loving this cooler weather?!

So off Avery and I went.  Avery on bike, me on foot.

But everyone knows that you can't start any major sporting event without a snack.  Sting cheese.  It's the snack of 3 year olds champions.

We did stop for a bit of gymnastics.  I know, I know, those aren't exactly the best balance beam shoes.  What can I say, Avery loves her "heels" (as she calls them).

Next up, drink break.  Avery told me that drinking water "made her ride her bike fast".  I think she was right.  Girl can go pretty fast!

After riding for a bit and asking me every other minute if she could go to Natalee and Lyla's house (Avery's friends around the corner) she got off her bike and just started twirling.  When I asked her what she was doing she said "I just need to twirl for a minute".  Um, okay.  As soon as I started taking pictures, she started posing for me.  I think I could've take a million pictures.

She's such a little big girl.  I can't get enough of this crazy thing.

By the way, the bike ride worked.  A big nap was had by all!

SnoCones!

Another way we like to beat the heat this awful beautiful summer is to go get snocones.

Sprinklers and Snocones. It's the theme of this Summer!

So off to the snocone stand we go.

No snocone visit is comeplete without princess shoes.

And of course you have to sport the sunglasses. Dad's make the best accessorie though.

If you are a 3 year old princess, the only snocone for you is pink. Flavor doesn't matter.

Most of us use straws.

IMG_5578

Unless you're weird. Which, let's be honest, we all know R is pretty weird at times.

I could get snocones everyday. They are cheap, delicious and of course are the epitome of summer.

And this girl loves them as much as I do.

I could eat her up!

Go forth and eat snocones this summer! It's what all the cool kids are doing!

Snow Day Fun!

So last week we had a little bit of a snow storm.  Okay, fine. We had a blizzard.  So they say.  By the way, who are "they"?  When you find out let me know.

Anyway, we had a bit of snow storm that seemed to shut down the city, the state and what seemed like the entire country.  My Pioneer Woman book was delayed, my Pampered Chef shipment was delayed and best worst of all I had to work at home.

The storm came in hard and heavy on Monday night and by around 7 that evening I knew my office would be closed.  Working at home has it's advantages, one of which is that I'm home with my Avery G. Although the cold was chilling to the bone, we did manage a little snow play during one of my "breaks".

But before we could go out in the snow, we had to get Avery properly dressed.
Oh yeah, and we couldn't go out with out giving Broozer some pettin's.  If I can recall correctly, Avery had on dress (don't judge me), leggings, leg warms, 2 pair of socks, fleece hoodie, wool coat, gloves, beanie, hoodie on her head and sunglasses.  Oh yeah, and the cutest little wellie boots ever.  So what she was wearing a dress, she was warm, I promise.  Please don't call DHS.

Avery and Broozer have a special bond.  He can't be without her for one minute.  She acousts loves Broozer so much. It just wasn't possible for the two to be outside together though. Broozer might have gotten lost in the snow never to be found again.

R was the one who volunteered to really go out in the snow with Avery. And he was ready.  Doesn't he look so cute?!

Let me say that our house is like the vortex of snow drifts. It could snow 1 inch ourside and we would get 5 foot drifts in front of our garage and house.  It makes it difficult to travel during snow storms even if we wanted too. But it does make for some fun play!

Not quite sure what to do.

That's some deep snow.  And, aren't those just the cutest boots?!

So that drift that Avery is walking up heads up to the front of our house.  The "peak" of the drift was probably a good 3 foot tall and Avery wanted to walk up to the top.

But that's hard to do when you are 2.

Daddy to the rescue!

Nothing is too tall or treacherous for R!

Success at the top of Mount Morris!

I lasted approximately 3 minutes outside.  Hey, it was fa-reeezing cold and my gloves didn't have fingers!  Avery did last much longer than me though...approximately 5 minutes.  Like mother like daughter!

It was fun though to see Avery playing in snow.  Now that storm number 2 has hit all she wants to do is walk in the snow.  Love that girl!

Frog Hunting

Avery loves, I mean LOVES to be outside. Tonight was no exception. After Aves and I got home from church and ate dinner, Batman mentioned he needed to water the flowers so of course his little helper needed to go out with him. I can't say no even when it is almost bedtime (note the helper in her pj's).

She is very independent and MUST do it herself. She is two you know. Fully capable of doing EVERYTHING all by herself!

And she looks good doing it. Our flower beds are full of frogs. They come out when we water. Soon after Avery and Batman started watering Avery was asking for the frogs. The Frog Hunt began.

Frog Hunt Basics:
1. Water the flower bed to lure frogs out of their hiding places. Luring frogs is serious business. It is not for the weak hearted.

2. Hunt for frogs. You may need a super hero to help you. Luckily we have a super hero around here.

3. Find frogs! This is the most important part. Whats the point in a Frog Hunt if you don't find anything? Finding frogs is fun. It doesn't take long to see a big frog, little frog or even a bitty, baby frog in our flower beds. They are everywhere!

4. I said Step 3 was the most important part but I lied. Step 4 is the most important part. Get your Batman to catch a baby frog and then touch it! This was my favorite part of the evening. Tonight was the first night Avery actually wanted to touch the frog. She kept saying "Dat a lil frog!" She shrieked and squealed and screamed everytime she touched and and it jumped. My heart melted (for the 1 millionth time) because of this new experience and I fell in love with Batman all over again for giving her the excitement of touching frogs.

Avery has been such a daddy's girl lately. Am I offended? No way. Actually I love it. I love it that Avery loves her daddy so much. I love it that she wants to help him water and catch frogs. I love it that they have songs they can share. I love it that they share a special bond. I don't worry about it. Avery grew inside of me...I'll always be her mother and be there in ways Batman can't. So when she wants him more than me my heart smiles. And I fall more in love with Batman because he such an amazing daddy.

I leave you with this parting shot. My favorite of the night. A true testament of my girl...cute, melt your heart smile and silly as all get out.
